City Clerk
The City Clerk and Collector is a charter official appointed by and
under the direct supervision of the Board of City Commissioners.
This is the official record custodian; official custodian of the
Seal of the City; authorized to attest to all city documents;
supervisor of all city elections; and the official record keeper of
all Commission meetings. The City Clerk and Collector has the sole
power to collect all revenue received by the City. The City Clerk
also maintains the records for the city owned Cycadia Cemetery;
gives notice of public meetings as required by law; and other duties
directed by the City Commission.
Irene S. Jacobs, City Clerk & Collector for the City of Tarpon
Springs, was born in Tampa and raised in Tarpon Springs. She is a
1981 graduate of Tarpon Springs High School and attended St.
Petersburg College where she received an AS degree in Fashion
Marketing Management. She is also a graduate of the International
Institute of Municipal Clerks, Where she received the status of
Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC).
On October 14, 2003, she was appointed by the Board of Commissioners
as City Clerk & Collector and has worked for the City of Tarpon
Springs since 1989, serving in various job capacities.
Ms. Jacobs resides in Tarpon Springs and has one daughter who is
currently attending college.
Ms. Jacobs is a member of the International Institute of Municipal
Clerks (IIMC); the Florida Association of City Clerks, Inc. (FACC);
Pinellas County Municipal Clerks Association: Daughters of Penelope
of Tarpon Springs; and a member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox
Cathedral.
