
CULTURAL AND CIVIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT
The Cultural and Civic Services Department oversees
the Tarpon Springs Public Library, Tarpon Springs Performing Arts
Center, Tarpon Springs Cultural Center, Heritage Center Museum, Train
Depot Muesum and Visitors Center, and the Safford House Museum. In
addition, it serves as the City's liasion with the Tarpon springs
Historical Society.
The department preserves and promotes the City's heritage, develops
cultural and heritage tourism opportunities, and creates high quality
performing and cultural arts activities for the public to enjoy on a
year round basis.
The state of the art Tarpon Springs Public Library provides easy access
to information and special programs as well as a wide array of reading
and audio-visual materials for recreation and study.
Kathleen Monahan, Director of Cultural anc Civic Services, has served
the City of Tarpon Springs for over 20 years. She holds a Bachelor
of Arts from the University of California, Irvine; a Master of Arts in
Musicology from Wesleyan University; and Master of Library Science from
the University of South Florida and a Ph.D. in Mucicology from the
University of Pittsburgh. She also serves as a liaison to the
Sister City Committee.
